Highway Design

         
 

Cadre Design Group has extensive drafting and technical support experience in producing contract plans and estimates for the design of  state highways and local roads, subdivisions, roadway rehabilitation and improvement plans, interchanges, storm damage repair, retaining walls, and signalization plans. Our vast experience and flexibility allows Cadre the ability to lend support in a number of duties including quantity calculations, plans preparation in either MicroStation or AutoCAD, geometric design, and earthwork calculations. In addition, we have produced numerous preliminary design plans and exhibits for Preliminary Design Reports (PDRs), Preliminary Study Reports (PSRs), and Project Reports (PRs).


State Highway, Local Road, Subdivision, Roadway Rehabilitation and Improvement Plans

Cadre Design Group has broad experience in the production of roadway plans and estimates for a variety of clients including Caltrans, the cities of Sacramento, Folsom, West Sacramento, and Woodland, and Sacramento, Placer, and El Dorado Counties. Recent projects include:

  • Street Improvements at the American River Bridge at Lake Notoma - Folsom, CA - PS&E preparation for this project consisted of a one-mile extension of Folsom Boulevard and a four-lane major arterial between Natoma Street and Greenback Lane in Folsom, California. The project included a new 690 m lightweight concrete box girder river crossing over the American River. Other elements of this project included a depressed portion of Folsom Boulevard, 900 m of retaining walls, and roadway improvements to Folsom Boulevard and adjacent city streets.

  • Sierra College Boulevard - City of Roseville, CA - Local street and intersection improvement project consisting of 0.8 mi. widening and rehabilitation of Sierra College Boulevard. Cadre CADD Technicians were responsible for drafting plan and profile plans, typical cross sections, construction details, and signing and striping plans in AutoCAD.


Interchanges

    


Cadre Design Group has produced preliminary geometric design alternatives and contract plans for a number of highway interchanges including the El Dorado Hills Boulevard, Missouri Flat Road, East Bidwell, and Prairie City Road Interchanges on Route 50 in Sacramento and El Dorado Counties. Recent projects include:


  • El Dorado Hills Boulevard - El Dorado Hills, CA - Cadre Design Group staff was responsible for developing the geometrics for five interchange alternatives for this projects's Project Report to reconstruct the El Dorado Hills Boulevard/Route 50 Interchange in El Dorado County. This effort included exhibits for the PR, roadway geometrics, drainage plans, utility plans, typical cross sections, detour plans, signing and striping plans, retaining wall plans, and construction details.
  • East Bidwell Interchange - City of Folsom, CA - Cadre Design Group staff was involved with the project from the development of the alternatives for the PSR and PR to the preparation of contract plans for the final PS&E submittal to the City of Folsom and Caltrans. This project involved replacing the existing two-lane Type L-1 interchange with a new five- lane overcrossing and Type L-9 interchange.
Cadre staff was responsible for exhibits for the PR as well as the completion of the contract plans. This effort included exhibits, roadway geometrics, layouts, typical sections, drainage plans, utility plans, detour plans, signing and striping plans, and construction details. 

 


 Storm Damage Repair


         


Cadre Design Group has extensive experience in producing plans and engineers' estimates for storm damage projects which were a result of recent California winter storms. Cadre CADD Technicians supplied technical and CADD support for various local engineering firms. Recent projects include:
 

  • Storm Damage Repair Projects - Caltrans District 3, Northern CA- These PS&E projects included repairing various state routes in Northern California which were damaged by the January 1997 storms. Most notably, the PS&E on Route 50 which included stabilizing the infamous Mill Creek slide and repairing the highway at a total of 36 locations. Cadre CADD Technicians performed various design and drafting duties including preparing geometrics, layouts, typical cross sections, detour plans, traffic handling plans, signing and striping plans, drainage details, and construction details.

     
  • Storm Damage Repair Projects - Caltrans District 2, Humboldt County, CA - CThese PS&E projects included repairing State Route 96, 101, and 299 in Humboldt County. These routes were heavily damaged during the January 1997 storms. Cadre CADD Technicians were responsible for producing geometrics, layouts, typical cross sections, detour plans, traffic handling plans, signing and striping plans, drainage details, and construction details.


Retaining Walls

Cadre Design Group has experience in producing retaining wall plans including plan and elevation, typical sections, and details. Recent projects include:

  • Pier 400 Transportation Corridor - Port of Los Angeles, CA - Cadre CADD Technicians were responsible for producing plan and elevations, typical sections, and details for retaining walls for the Port of Los Angeles.
  • Storm Damage Repair Projects - Caltrans District 2, Humboldt County, CA - Retaining walls on Old Creek Road at a storm damage location on Highway 1, north of Morro Bay. Cadre CADD Technicians were responsible for producing plan and elevations, typical sections, and details for this project.
     


Signalization

    


Cadre Design Group has experience in producing signalization plans for a number of local agencies including the City of West Sacramento and City and County of Sacramento. Recent projects include:

  • Southport Parkway NW/Ramco Street - City of West Sacramento, CA - Cadre CADD Technicians were responsible for producing signalization plans in AutoCAD for the street improvements project of Southport Parkway in West Sacramento, California.
  • San Juan Avenue/Sperry Drive - Sacramento County, CA - Cadre CADD Technicians were responsible for producing intersection improvement and signalization plans in MicroStation for the intersection of San Juan Avenue and Sperry Drive in Sacramento, California.
